Carbon goes on the spokes and the top section, never on the grip areas: it is too cold in winter and too hot in the sun.
The case of touch-sensitive controls
From 2020, Mercedes replaced some of the buttons with touch-sensitive controls. On an NTech steering wheel, the controls are original parts: you keep access to the instrument cluster menu and to the driver assistance systems.
This is precisely why a universal wheel makes no sense on these vehicles: you would lose these functions.
